Conservation Biology (Prof. Bruno Baur)

What is Conservation biology?

[Translate to English:] NLU

Conservation biology is a multidisciplinary field of science dealing with the analysis of various levels of biodiversity and assessing the causes for its decline. Furthermore, sensible conservation and protection measures are developed. The emergence of nature conservation biology is mainly based on the increasing scientific, political and public interest in the topic of sustainable use of natural resources in recent years. Thus, human needs should be fulfilled in a sustainable way and the destruction or irreversible degradation of nature should be prevented.

In our research group, we investigate among other aspects of biodiversity in urban areas (research project on urban ecology). In addition, we examine effects of invasive non-native species to native species.
