Research Interests
My main interest is metal contamination of the environment, combining a multidisciplinary approach of environmental sciences, including soil science, geochemistry and sedimentology at different scales, from particle to watershed. During my PhD, I focused on transfer processes of trace metals associated with past mining and smelting activities, as well as their long-term remobilisation by soil erosion. To investigate this, I used elemental geochemistry together with mineralogy and isotopic techniques (Pb, Sb) in a paleo-environmental approach.
My current research project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF, AVATAR Project), aims to provide a revised dating framework for quantifying geomorphological processes using artificial fallout radionuclides during the Anthropocene period in the Southern Hemisphere, in order to trace soil erosion.
