Research interests

My main research focuses on understanding natural climate variability and anthropogenic influences on freshwater ecosystems. As paleolimnologist, I use lake sediment cores to infer long-term paleoenvironmental changes and paleoclimatic variability, particularly in alpine ecosystems at both centennial and millennial scales. I specialize in using subfossil cladocerans and diatoms as biotic indicators to analyze these changes, alongside other geochemical proxies. My current research therefore integrates biogeochemistry, palaeoclimatology, palaeoecology, global change, and anthropogenic impacts.
