The Department of Environmental Sciences offers opportunities to pursue individual doctorates in the following subjects:

• Botany
• Geography
• Geosciences
• Prehistory and Archaeological Science
• Environmental Sciences
• Zoology

A doctorate can only be taken up in consultation and agreement with the respective professor.

It is possible to participate in one of several doctoral programs:

• PhD Program Environmental Sciences (including the possibility to participate in the Water-Earth Systems PhD School)
• PhD Program in Science and Policy of Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center (PSC)
• PhD Program in Plant Sciences of Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center (PSC)

The doctoral students belong to Group III of the Departmental Assembly: List of current PhD and PostDoc representatives in the Department Committee.
