Research interests

My research interests all focus on the interactions between humans and nature, and vice versa, more commonly known as global change. My own research specifically investigates changes in land use and land cover, and their interaction with biodiversity, climate change and food security at a global level. My current research projects focus on techniques that aim at increasing agricultural productions, such as intensification and expansion, and understanding the effects of area-based conservation efforts on a global scale. I also examine the implications of cultivation practices associated with more sustainable methods, such as shifts towards more extensive or diverse agriculture.

In order to holistically assess this nexus and understand the multiple interlinkages, as well as quantifying co-benefits and trade-offs, I am using and developing spatial land allocation models, coupled with economic and biophysical models, to address the multidisciplinary nature of this research.
