  • The demographic and functional consequences of clonal growth in plants
  • The impact of man-made local and global change in calcareous grasslands
  • Patchy habitats, meta-populations and genetic diversity in alpine plant life

1982 – 1986 PhD, University of Basel with Prof. Zoller «Litter production and decomposition in calcareous grassland»
since 1988 Lecturer in Botany at the University of Basel
1987 – 1991 Research grant for «Population biology of pioneer species»
1991 Research project on Epilobium species in Georgien (former UdSSR
1991 – 1993 Research Grant of the Treubel Fonds
1998 Habilitation in Botany at the University of Basel
2007 Titularprofessorship of the University of Basel
