Research Interests

I have a great interest in natural science topics, especially where it concerns biogeography, ecology, zoology and physical geography. Besides lab work I enjoy working in the field and analyzing empirical data. I mainly study aquatic habitats (particularly springs) and am focused on molecular ecology and phylogeography. I am particularly interested in aquatic mites (Hydrachnidia). Ongoing projects are among other things: Barcoding crenobiont water mites and phylogeographic reconstruction of spring specialization.
