Research interests

I'm a development economist with a passion for fostering strong sustainability strategies in the context of economic transitions. My research delves into the fourth energy transition towards renewable energy, examining its impacts on human and environmental well-being from a post-growth perspective. Using case studies, I employ a mixed-methods approach: computable general equilibrium (CGE) models to analyze the social, environmental, and economic trade-offs of various transition pathways for industries and households, and focus group discussions (FGDs) to assess the feasibility and desirability of these scenarios. My goal is to shed light on the energy transition from a justice perspective, highlighting how different pathways can reduce socio-economic inequalities, promote inclusivity, and enable societies to thrive within planetary boundaries. To what extent the transition towards renewable energy sources can pave the way towards a post-growth society where the wellbeing of humans and the environment are prioritized is the overarching research question I seek to answer.
