Research Interest

My reasearch focusses on the use and development of climate records from speleothems, in order to understand Earth system changes throughout the last deglaciation and the Holocene. My current research focus is on the western Mediterranean, where I am interested in understanding the causes and expressions of climatic variations over the past 2,000 years. By geochemically analyzing speleothems from across the Iberian peninsula and Balaeric islands, my work seeks to shed new light on the impact and legacy of environmental transformations during the 'medieval millennium', and their impacts on society.

Specific interests include:

  • The environmental impacts of climate change in Iberia, and their links to societal transformations
  • Geochemical analysis of stalagmite samples using stable isotopes, fluid inclusions, and trace elements
  • How cave morphology and hydrology influences speleothem growth on diverse timescales
